Ms. Linda Trammell Memorial Service, Sept. 6, 2026
Ms. Linda Barnett Trammell’s memorial service was held at Faith Temple at 3:00 p.m. on Sun., Sept. 6, 2026. Ms. Linda, 80, (pictured above) died on Tues., Sept. 1, 2026. Mr. Kenneth Trammell, her husband, died in 2017. Their son, Randell, died at about 3 years of age.
“I don’t talk much about my son; it brings back too many memories,” Linda said at a May 24, 2023, prayer meeting. “Pastor Jimmy Thompson helped with his funeral.”
The late Ms. Imogene Trammell Simpson and the late Mr. Mick Simpson had Ms. Linda live with them after a stroke happened to Linda after her husband died. Mrs. Sandra Lister and the late Mr. Larry Lister invited Ms. Linda to live with them as she recovered from a second stroke. Linda was living alone when she died.
Pastor Raymond D. Burrows of Faith Temple read one of Ms. Linda’s writings and said, “She let her light shine. You knew, if you were in her presence for a short time, that she walked with the Lord.”
Mrs. Hannah Pinzon, accompanied by Mrs. Sandra Martin, sang What a Day that Will Be” and “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be.”
Mrs. Haley Quinn said, “I have known Linda since I was born. She began as my neighbor but took me under her wing and loved me as one of her own. As a child, I spent so much time at the Trammell house. When I got to school age, I’d jump off the bus and run to their house… She taught me how to make blueberry muffins and eggs… helped me with my homework, and her and Kenneth helped me on meaningful projects.” As Quinn grew up they continued contact. “There was a peace I found in Linda, and I believe that peace came from God. He gave Linda a special ability to make people feel loved, safe, and cared for. She carried the love of Jesus everywhere she went… She taught me that sometime the greatest gift we can give people is simply our time.” Quinn read Gal. 6:10: “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men.” “Linda did that in the simple, everyday moments of life,” Quinn said, “Let’s use the time God has given to us to love our family, care for our neighbors, encourage someone, and make memories… it’s about the love we gave and the time we shared.”
Mrs. Ann Burrows sang “Jesus Loves Us” at the request, made some time ago, of Ms. Linda.
Mrs. Ann said. “She was not just an attender of church, she was a participator. She was an encourager of the highest form… There were frequent texts [to Pastor and Mrs. Ann and messages and cards sent to others]… They seemed to come at just the right time… Who’s going to fill her spot?… To be such a tiny, little lady, she sure has left a big, old hole.”
Pastor invited friends to comment on Ms. Linda’s life. With tears, some told of Linda’s love and encouragement. The congregation sang “Amazing Grace,” and Pastor Burrows closed: “Thank you, Father, for those who have come today to show respect, honor, and appreciation… in our Savior’s name, amen.”
