CAROLINE QUERRY LUTZ DIES
Ms. Caroline “Carol” Querry Lutz, 76, wife of the late Marion Gene Lutz and a Faith Temple Church member, went to be with the Lord on Tues. night, April 2, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Daughter Annette Lutz said her mother was able to pick her own funeral clothes the day before she passed. Mini-strokes contributed to her death.
“She was so ready to go home to her Lord,”Annette says. “She told us on Monday that she loved all of us and she was at peace with dying. She knew it was happening very soon.”
Mrs. Ann Burrows and Mrs. Sandra Martin, pianist, sang “It Is Well with My Soul” at the 1:00 p.m., Sat., April 6 funeral at Faith Temple, Taylors, SC.
“It was just Tuesday, a week ago, that I sat there in the home and had good conversation with Sister Carol,” the Rev. Raymond D. Burrows, pastor of Faith Temple, said at the funeral. “Her mind was clear. She was asking questions, engaged in conversation, etc. It’s almost unbelievable how someone can so quickly pass from this life, and yet, she was in the Lord’s hands, as is true of all of us.”
He said Mr. and Mrs. Lutz were workers. He recalled their pulling grass from church flowerbeds and Carol teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, “participating in ministry of various sorts,” and giving encouraging words. Carol always endeavored to be a light for Christ, he said.
He noted that after Mr. Marion Lutz, her husband, passed, Kevin Lutz, Marion’s son, felt Carol desired to go to be with Christ. Pastor said the Apostle Paul, before dying, also felt he “had run his race, fought his fight,” and was ready to transition.
“It’s like a beckoning call to our spirits — come!” Pastor said. “Our Savior said, ‘Let not your hearts be troubled… in my Father’s House are many dwelling places.’ There is that promise of connection with Him on that eternal scale.”
Pastor thanked Kevin and Annette for caring for Carol, calling that provision “honor, maybe in the highest degree.” He thanked those who “drove in from Ohio” to honor Carol. “Ms. Caroline was loved by her church family,” Pastor said. “We have a good representation here today.”
He quoted Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” and added, “Oh, Death, where is thy sting?”… Death is a transition. Surrender your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ… Ms. Carol is in the presence of the Lord… no more sickness, no more pain. “I personally thank God for having known Ms. Carol since 2003,” Pastor said.
Born in Craigsville, W.Va., Ms. Carol Lutz was the daughter of the late Jessy James Quarry and Dorothy Heartly Querry. A retired home health nurse, Carol moved to SC in Nov. 2003. She is survived by her daughter: Annette (Kevin) Lutz; stepchildren: Denise, Greg, and Cathy; sister: Eura Olsen; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
