Sunday School Awards for Yoder Couple

  Mr. Perry and Mrs. Joyce Yoder, of Marietta, SC, received Faith Temple Sunday School (SS) attendance awards: Perry for 10 years and Joyce for 32 years. “Perfect attendance” pins indicate at least 50 of 52 SS classes attended each year.

“I’ve learned a lot about Noah’s ark and how well classmates pray,” Joyce says. “If you’re home alone, come and join us for Sunday School. I guarantee a smile and a handshake. Bring the kids. We love them.” Joyce is a charter member (Dec. 16, 1956) of Faith Temple, Taylors, SC. Her parents were Mr. Belton M. Rainey (1923-1987) and Mrs. Grace B. Rainey (1924-2000). Her brother is David Rainey, 64. Her son is Mr. Robert Roye.

“I’ve learned a lot about the Bible in Sunday School,” says Perry Yoder, raised as Mennonite in Goshen, Indiana. Mennonites, a faith stream within Christianity, use cars, electricity, and phones, but they and the more strict Amish are similar. Yoder is a common surname among the Amish and Mennonites. Perry’s two brothers have passed; he has three sisters. His daughter is Sonya Yoder. At age 20, Perry joined the U.S. Army (Jan.1971) and retired as a Sergeant First Class in Dec. 1991 after tours-of-duty in Korea, Germany (4 times), and Operation Desert Storm (Iraq/Kuwait).

Joyce and Perry Yoder A charter member of Faith Temple—she was there at the church’s beginning—Mrs. Joyce Yoder, 78, was born on Jan. 23, 1948, to Mr. Belton and Mrs. Grace Rainey. They attended Gum Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, Taylors, SC. The Hardins owned “Hardin’s Five and Dime” in Sans Souci. Lorraine sang with Mrs. Lena Hannon and Mrs. Mable Robertson. Faith Temple’s Thanksgiving Dinner evening celebration was held on Wed., Nov. 13, 2024, in Fleming Hall. Mrs. Amanda Campbell organized the event; Mrs. Cindy McCall and Mrs. Anna McCall decorated; Pastor Raymond D. Ms. Rachel Mae Styles, 80, Remembered

Ms. Rachel Mae Styles Cars zoomed along Wade Hampton Boulevard on a beautiful day at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. A graveside service for Ms. Rachel Mae Styles, 80, unfolded near the thoroughfare fronting Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Greer, SC.     A small crowd gathered around family members sitting inside a tent. Pastor Raymond Burrows of Faith Temple said, “We’re going to celebrate the life of a dear and precious lady, Ms. Rachel Styles… Let’s bow in prayer.”     Mr. Steve Evans sang “Amazing Grace.”    Ms. Rachel passed on Oct. 18, 2026, at her home—the home of her sister, Ms. Joanne Wilson and her brother-in-law, Ken Wilson.
