Revival Inspires Four Churches in April 2022
Revival meetings, held at a different church each night, unfolded from Sun., April 24—Wed., April 27, 2022, in Taylors, SC. Participating churches included Living Branch, Calvary Christian Fellowship, Faith Temple, and Destination Church of God. The church’s four pastor preached, each speaking at a different church from his own. Host churches provided worship music.
Pastor Phil Lord of Calvary Christian Fellowship spoke at Living Branch on Sunday at 5:00 pm. He preached on “The Elijah Remnant” (1 Kings 17:1-9). Elijah confronted Israel’s King Ahab about idolatry. Ahab married Jezebel, a Sidonian, and worshipped her god, Baal.
“Israel was in a mess … Idolatry was established under Ahab,” Lord said. “I love my nation, but like Israel of Elijah’s day, it is sick … Many of our leaders are provoking God. … Hard times are ahead of us in this nation, I believe.”
Elijah prayed and defeated 450 prophets of Baal at Mt. Carmel (1 Kings 18). “God is still looking for people like Elijah,” Lord said. “Honey, we ain’t supposed to be like the world!”
Lord said we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds and that God, today, has an “Elijah remnant” of believers (1 Kings 18:4). “God has us hidden all across America,” he said. “God is starting to call us forth for such a time as this … to call this nation back to God.”
Pastor Trey Thompson of Destination Church of God spoke at Calvary Christian Fellowship on Monday at 7:00 pm, focusing on Matt. 16:13-18 and 1 Kings 17–18.
“We’re responsible for the state the Church is in right now,” Thompson said. “The cross is what we should be preaching about … hell is hot and you don’t want to go there. … Today we live in a place where there’s a spiritual famine. … God, send a revival like never before. … The Church, in general, is struggling … Satan is captivating millions of people. … We are allowing Satan to walk into our houses without a prayer going up … We need an adult version of the song ‘Be Careful Little Eyes What You See!’”
About prayer: He said his mother told him, “When it don’t add up, get alone and seek Him.”
“Somebody needs to walk into Walmart with the Holy Spirit on them and spread the Word of Jesus,” Thompson said. A “message in tongues” was given, and Thompson interpreted the message of praise to God.
Pastor Donnie O`Shields of Living Branch spoke at Faith Temple on Tuesday at 7:00 pm. He read about the end of Ahab’s drought: “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain (1 Kings 18:41).”
“I believe there’s a great outpouring coming,” O’Shields said. “‘Get up, eat and drink’ … Get hungry for the Word … There’s a sound of the abundance of rain!”
He said “your old flesh” does not like to pray, but get alone with God and start praying and seeking his face.
“The world is gonna get pretty bad, but God’s gonna have a remnant,” “O’Shields said. “Don’t stop! Don’t quit! Don’t give up on God. … We’re gonna need one another in these times we’re living in. … Elijah prepared of the storm. … I want to pray continuously. I want to pray before I get in the fire. … I’ve learned not to focus on the tare; I focus on the wheat. … Be a man; you’re the spiritual leader of your house. … You’ve got to be what God called you to be.”
Pastor Raymond D. Burrows of Faith Temple spoke at Destination Church of God on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. He read, “ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me … “ (Gal. 2:20).
He talked about “internalizing Christ” (John 15:26). To internalize Christ, you’ll have to rely on the Spirit, he said. “When Christ is living in you, you’re never ashamed to advertise who you are. … When you walk in the Spirit, you’ll not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
To
internalize Christ, you must read the Bible (John 5:39), Burrows said.
“How much time do you spend on the internet? Facebook? … There’s a
dearth in the land of Bible knowledge … Read that Bible for yourself. …
Jesus said, ‘Search the Scriptures … they testify of me.’”
